Help Susan beat Parkinson's Disease

About 2 ½ years ago, I went to a neurologist because I was having difficulty walking up stairs, writing my name, and my body had forgotten how to dance. I have danced since I was 4 years old so this was a real concern to me. I would try to walk upstairs, and halfway up my legs wouldn’t move. I had to force myself to move and I thought I had had a stroke. I went to the Doctor and was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The first in my family to have this. I asked her how long do I have and her answer was maybe 15 years. At first, the prescribed medication worked amazingly. In 3 days I was walking and the symptoms went away. But I was told I would be on it for the rest of my life, with no hope that it would be stopped, and that the deterioration of my brain was guaranteed.

The first medication I’m on is carbidopa-levodopa. This extremely powerful medication has helped me function physically, but the downside is that after a few years it begins to deteriorate my brain cells, and the result will be dementia. The second medication is pramipexole dihydrochloride, which gives you compulsive behaviors like gambling, eating, sex (lol), and others. I've definitely been eating more, but thank God, I didn’t get the others. An extreme side effect is hallucinations. I have not experienced that yet.

Recently, I have found an alternative doctor, Dr. Farley, in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, who has offered me a cutting edge treatment to get off this medication and stop this disease where it is and maybe regress it. The problem is the cost. My health insurance will not cover it, and if I wait, my disease could progress to the point that I will be too far gone for his treatment. The cost is a lot, and I don’t have it all. I agreed to the treatments and am taking cash advances from my credit cards along with putting my truck up for sale. I am putting my faith in God and the universe that the money will come.

I want to be cognizant and see my grandchildren grow up. I want to dance, and ride and walk. I want to continue with my job at Realty Mark. I love you guys, even when you make me crazy and I have to take out the nerf guns…..I have faith that this doctor with his passion to help and his knowledge of the root causes of this disease can help stop the progression and give me a quality of life that is strong and healthy.
