Help Susanne Gean beat her cancer!

Many know Susanne from Homer's Drive Inn, in Leavenworth, KS, where she's been a waitress/assistant manager for almost 34 years. She's also a mother of 3 girls and has been married for nearly 29 years.

**Update 9/15/2023 - Susanne passed unexpectedly on 09/02/2023 at KU Medical Center. Memorial visitation was at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, in Leavenworth, KS on 9/14/2023 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Donations to this fundraiser have been disabled. To those that have donated, thank you so much.

**Update 8/25/2023 - On 8/19/2023 Susanne was admitted to KU Medical Center. The diagnosis was pneumonia. She declined for several days and was sent down to the ICU where she currently remains.

**Update 8/17/2023 - Susanne's cancer is active again and is attacking her trachea and bronchial tubes. Her original tumor is also growing again and appears to have made it to her spinal cord. We're going to keep pinning this to get help for medical items Aetna isn't covering like nebulizers and oxygen concentrators that have recently been ordered.

Susanne was diagnosed with lung cancer on August 29, 2022. The report indicated cancer in Susanne's right lung, specifically a Pancoast tumor/bronchogenic carcinoma. Initially, this was diagnosed as stage IIIb lung cancer. However, based on new CT imaging done on 10/12/2022, doctors believe Susanne has stage IV cancer that has spread to her abdomen.

With the economy a complete wreck, we know this is a horrible time to ask for help. Anyone who has dealt with cancer knows how financially burdensome this can be. So we have no choice but to ask for help. Any amount is welcome, and donations will only be used to pay for Susanne's medical-related expenses.

Radiation therapy and chemotherapy started on October 24, 2022, and finished early December. Cancer is fossilized. This is not remission. It means they've stopped the cancer. Plans are to do full scans, every two months, to watch for signs of the cancer becoming active again.
