Marshall Main Street Cafe Thanks You!!

The outpouring has been incredible!

Our adult children have experienced loss and devastation in the communities they love.

Julia and Tyler have been tirelessly working with the City of Asheville in the city’s outreach programs, getting out aid and supplies to outlying areas. John and Julia have been working with recovery teams digging out some of the muck in the building where their business, The Marshall Main Street Cafe, is located and assisting their employees financially while they all go through the process of salvaging whats left and securing aid for food, shelter, overdue bills and continued income.

While they are experiencing the worst of Mother Nature they are also able to be a part of the best of the human spirit. This is an experience that will leave its mark forever in their minds and hearts.

Your donation is part of what has allowed them to rise to meet others. Your donations will be shared between the employees of Marshall Main Street Cafe to help fill the gap of their unemployment, and to procure a few of the emergency supplies that employees who are also volunteering are using to assist in the daunting clean up. Each week John and Julia will make sure the employees receive what they normally would have earned to sustain life as closely as they knew it before Helene for as long as these donations permit.

The employees (and residents) love for their community and commitment to the business has been amazing. There is a list of additional needs at the bottom of this note. The needs of the employees (and the business community and residents) have been evolving daily since Helene ravaged this area.

We all are incredibly thankful for what this will do for a group that have and continue to put their hearts and souls into a business in a community where they felt like they belonged and were using their talents to thrive. They feel like their community and livelihoods were ripped from underneath them while at the same time they now believe there is an opportunity to build a new, stronger one.

Kindness, generosity, faith and love in these devastating events create stronger and even better communities. The long term goal is for the Historic Business District of Marshall NC to come back and thrive however there is a lot of blood, sweat and tears going forward to get there. Your donation has made the load considerably lighter.

Forever grateful,
Helen and John Harvey
