Help Sustain the Magic of NY Faerie Festival

I'm Billy Bardo, the Creative Director & one of the Producers of the New York Faerie Festival. Our little festival is a fantasy & faerytale-themed mythic arts event in the forest along a shady creek valley, and if you're reading this, you likely know it well. I am always honored & often amazed at how significant the New York Faerie Festival is to people. It's a joy to many, yet to some it's become Beloved, a vital part of their annual adventures & perennial growth. NYFF still carries some old debt from our first few years when we were investing far more than we were receiving. We chose to shoulder those burdens without asking for help, and now have reduced that amount to a manageable level. We've gotten quite adept in the last decade in meeting our basic expenses while making annual improvements. This year we had good gate numbers and a full camping field with a favorable weather forecast leading up to the show, so we prepared for the event with confidence. We invested in infrastructure and were fair and generous with performers & crew. Confidence made us ambitious, generous, & sloppy. We ended up going well over budget in spite of those good numbers.

Meanwhile, our host is selling his old family home (as he chooses to live in the home he designed & built). This means that we're losing the source of our electrical power to the front of the show and will need to be installing our own service and run cable up the valley at least as far as the Market Stage. Plenty of guests and workers have pointed out the need for truckloads more gravel to mitigate those troublesome muddy areas. Following through on these projects will require financial support.

So there you have it. We have a long-term plan and a short-term jam that could use your help if you have help to offer. In addition to this fundraiser, we'll be offering two weekends in autumn for folks to come visit us and work with us.
