My Grandma Suzie Needs Your Help

This is a picture of me and my Grandma, Suzie. She's always been my rock and my inspiration.

As a young woman, Grandma had a dream: to own her own flower shop. With courage and determination, she opened Suzie's Flower Shop in our little town of Live Oak back in 1980.

For 44 years, she poured her heart and soul into that shop. She has been there every day, even now at 78 years old, creating beauty and spreading joy throughout the Live Oak community.

But this week, her world came crashing down.

Tropical Storm Debby tore through Live Oak, leaving devastation in its wake, impacting multiple small businesses downtown, who our hearts also go out to. My Grandma's beloved flower shop, her life's work, was destroyed.

And as if that wasn't enough, while the floodwaters were rising, Grandma was three hours away, caring for her sister as she battled terminal cancer. On Sunday, the doctors delivered heartbreaking news, that there was nothing more they could do, and my great Aunt passed a few days later.

My Grandma returned home to a town ravaged by the storm, a shop that's unrecognizable, and a future filled with uncertainty. My grandma is very strong, but the grief from these events is tremendous.

Our family is rallying around her, of course. But the damage is extensive. The roof of the flower shop caved in, the inventory was destroyed, and the bills are mounting.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. Funds raised will help my grandmother cover the cost of cleaning up and repairing damage to the building so it can be sold.
