Join Sydney’s Fight Against Cancer

Hi! My name is Phil Scrimenti. Sydney is my wife. She is the love of my life, my rock and anchor and the most courageous woman I know. 

She’s been knocked around many times but keeps on getting up. As a child, she had three different emergency surgeries for non-cancerous masses and survived. Sydney lost her father to brain cancer in 2008. It was devastating to her and her mother. Her mother became a widow with five kids. 

Shortly after, they lost their family home to foreclosure. In 2010, her mother and her were in a terrible car accident, which contributed to her mother’s current state of disability. Sydney survived again and since has been taking care of her mother and youngest brother. 

Her original diagnosis of Ductal Carcinoma was in May of 2015. At that point her cancer was considered in SITU and was able to receive chemotherapy, which was enough to avoid a mastectomy and her cancer went into remission. Once again, she survived. 

Then, in 2018, her cancer relapsed. By the time it was caught, we ended up going through three exhausting years, we’ve poured our savings, retirement and any additional cash flow into treatment and surgical options. This helped maintain a quality of life that allowed her to work and take care of her disabled mother.

This has caused her to move from a full time position to strictly working on a volunteer basis. 

Her doctor and surgeon feel positive with the start of chemotherapy and possibly immunotherapy. While it’s becoming a more common treatment for multiple types of cancer, the co-pays are high. If this protocol is successful, it would give her relief from pain and suffering, while improving her quality of life.

 

Anything helps to cover our out of pocket costs for the treatment, subsequent additional care, dental work and previous medical debt. 

Like I said, my wife is tough and courageous. All of her life she’s been getting out of scrapes on her own. She, of all people, would never ask for help unless it really was needed. With your help, this fighter will beat another challenge in her very hard life. 

If you know me, you know how much I love my wife and would do anything to help her. So, I ask you, to find it in your heart to:

1- Keep her in your prayers. She’s a very spiritual and religious person. The depth of her faith and love of God is in all she does. She’s my inspiration and as we all know, prayer is powerful.
