I am writing on behalf of Sylvia, my friend of 20+ years, and her son (Mateo) who have experienced unfathomable loss in the last 48 hours. Her young son’s father’s apartment was completely burned to the ground in Altadena and a duplex she co-owns was completely charred. Sylvia is also a financial backbone to her household in which she helps support her mother, sister, nephew, and Mateo.
