My name is Szilvia Szendrei, and I am reaching out during one of the most difficult times in my

family’s life. We lived at the corner of Temescal and Sunset Blvd, directly in the path of the

destructive Palisades fire. In an instant, the fire swept through our neighborhood, forcing us to

evacuate with our two children, leaving everything behind.

Our lives changed overnight. We lost our home, our belongings, and the sense of security we

had worked so hard to create. For days, we had nowhere to go and ended up sleeping in our

car, unsure of what the future held. Eventually, we found shelter in a motel to meet our family’s

basic needs, but starting over has been an uphill battle.
