Help Little Talan's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Little Talan is 22 months old and one month ago his whole life was turned upside down. Mel, a single mum who also has a six year old little boy, took Talan to the hospital because she feared something was wrong. Not in her wildest dreams was she expecting to hear the most heart breaking, devastating news of her life.
Talan was diagnosed with a tumour located inside his spinal cord in a position that doctors described as “the worst place he could possibly have a tumour”, with the location being the control centre of his whole nervous system. This section of the spinal cord controls all body functions, including the ability to breathe.
Almost three weeks ago, Talan went in for surgery to take a biopsy. Unfortunately, the biopsy left Talan with no function in both legs and limited control of his arms. This is just devastating news for a little boy who was so active, always running around and playing with his older brother.
Mel is now waiting to see if Chemo can help shrink Talan's tumour as another operation is no longer an option. When Talan is well enough to start chemo, Mel will be making the journey to and from the hospital twice per week, for 12+ months. This will be a harrowing journey ahead.
We are hoping to raise some money to help Mel out with the purchase of a safe and reliable car that meets Talan’s physical needs and transports him comfortably to his weekly chemotherapy appointments at Perth Children’s Hospital.
Mel is now counting each day with Talan as a blessing. She will continue to put all of her energy and focus on making Talan’s days as wonderful as possible and remain hopeful that Chemo can work some kind of miracle.
This Go Fund Me page was put together by her family who hope to alleviate some of the burden and pain that Mel currently faces as a single parent.
Any support or donation you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated! Let’s work together to help make little Talan's days ahead as happy and comfortable as possible.
