Help fund Tam’s Surgeries

Hi, my name is Toni and I am fundraising for Tamara.

This incredible, inspiring woman has been there for so many of us, so often. Now it is our turn to show up when she needs us most.

As some of you know, Tamara has endometriosis, which is a painful chronic disease which causes endometrial tissue to grow outside of your uterus. It also causes a painful type of bloating known as “endo belly”. Tam is in high levels of pain daily, which has taken a huge toll on her mental health, and her pain is often so severe, it impacts her everyday function.

Tam currently needs a laparoscopic surgery to remove the endometriosis adhesions from her reproductive system, particularly the adhesions around her ovaries - and trying to save her ovaries - which leads to further complications of future fertility. Having to also face this, Tamara is out of pocket for an egg cycle and collection.

Having endometriosis has thrown more curveballs Tam’s way than anyone should bare. Now, she is making an incredibly difficult decision, at an age which many of us are most worried about what to wear/drink/do on the weekend.

Across her life, endometriosis has cost Tamara about $30,000, and this year alone she is to pay another $10,000 this year - after having already paid about $4,000 in medical appointments, hospital stays, specialist appointments and medications. Not to mention, the time off required, being unpaid sick leave.

Out of pocket costs for surgeries and hospital is huge, and these next few months for Tam are going to hit really hard. Every dollar raised will go directly to her, to cover some (hopefully all!) medical costs.
