Help Tamekia Finish her Doctorate Degree

Hello! My name is Tamekia Ford and I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree at SC State University. I am in my last semester of writing my dissertation before I defend it in front of my committee. The goal of my dissertation is to analyze the effects of high school athletics on the academic achievement of students. 

I am SO close to achieving this long time goal of mine and could really use some help financially with the cost of my final semester, an editor and a statistician to analyze the data.

Recently, my grandmother passed away and that deemed me as the primary caregiver of my mother, who has dementia. I am unable to work the amount of hours and have the types of jobs I have had in the past to support my education due to the grand demand and the amount of time it takes to care for my mother.  

Coming from having very little growing up, being able to achieve a doctorate degree and be the first of my mother's children to do so would be such an honor and one that I hope my mom can remember.

It is my desire to show my students, former athletes and all those around me that hard work pays off with perseverance and dedication.

I appreciate all of the help given to me to support me in this endeavor.
