Recently diagnosed with Invasive Squamos Cell Carcinoma (Cervical Cancer), Tammie has been undergoing a myriad of tests and procedures for more than 8 months, with her husband Brendhan by her side. Doctors initially did not believe Tammie had cancer and precious months were lost in attempts to discover the source of her pain and bleeding, which has continually worsened. Initially, Tammie did not have insurance and she and Brendhan quickly went through their savings. Copays and premiums have run into the thousands, with family members contributing all they can.
Now in treatment at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Palm Springs, CA, next week Tammie is scheduled to undergo a radical hysterectomy (for the cancer in her cervix and uterus), a pelvic and para-aortic lymph node dissection (to detect how far into the lymph node system the cancer has spread), and an exploratory laparotomy (doctors are still unable to explain the source of her pain and large amounts of blood loss). The doctor has indicated additional procedures may take place while she is in the operating room. Radiation and chemotherapy are expected to follow surgical treatments.
The coming weeks and months will continue to be a physical and emotional challenge for this loving couple. We are attempting to raise funds for her medical care, lost work, and needs of the immediate household. Any donation, however small will help. We thank everyone for the many wishes for a speedy recovery that have been received.
