Help Tammy Kick Cancer to the Curb
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
Tammy's daughter here, Amanda. I am starting this to raise funds for my mom, Tammy, who was recently diagnosed with an invasive form of breast cancer. It was caught early, so her prognosis is great. However, the c-word is the c-word and it comes with a lot of weight, changes, and unknowns.
As you know, cancer affects everyone differently and she is still very much in the process of discovering how it will affect her. She has had to be off work, as per her doctor's recommendation, which is a HUGE financial strain. My mom is very independent and always finds a way to make it work. However, I don't want her to have to find a way to make it work, I want her to focus on kicking cancers ass and healing.
My mom is the most caring person I know and is always the first one to offer help to those she cares about in any way she can, even if it means overextending herself. And so, I am humbly asking anyone who my mom has helped, been there for, or even just made a positive impact on to consider donating. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser, reaching out to her with words of comfort, or even dropping off some home cooked meals!
Any funds raised will go directly to expenses that can help her sustain her needs. This includes, but is not limited to, groceries, parking fees, medications, rent, car payments, and gas.
If you've made it this far here is a little bit of her journey thus far. The end of 2024 consisted of several different diagnostics and appointments before her diagnosis was confirmed the week before Christmas. Early in January, she underwent a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy and has been focusing on healing post-operatively. The next step is meeting the rest of her oncology team at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, finding out if chemotherapy is recommended, and preparing for radiation therapy. Updates will be provided throughout her journey if you want to follow along.
As you can imagine, this process is overwhelming and scary. Some of my mom's roles include grandma, sister, aunt, coworker, and friend. She is loving, caring, empathetic, supportive, and stubborn. The list could go on and on and so I'll end it by saying this, she deserves support, please help my family and I show her that she IS loved and supported.
I genuinely appreciate your time and consideration.
With love, Amanda
