Help Tammy & Matthew Through the Unthinkable

Donation protected

On October 25, 2022, Michael Patrick Ernst, attempted to take his life. After 2 days on life support it was determined his injuries were un-survivable, and he made his transition on October 27, 2022. He left behind his son, Matthew, and his wife of twenty plus years, Tammy. As one can imagine this sudden tragedy has left their family with an unsurmountable amount of grief.

Michael was the sole provider for his family and Tammy has been left with the responsibility of her household. Unfortunately, she has no means to do so at this time after being declared 100% disabled following a major car accident in 2019. She was left with several injuries to her neck and back. Tammy also suffers from other health concerns that add to the burden of her pain. She has had two high risk operations to help her maintain function as best as possible and regularly sees medical professionals because of it.

She is left with their beautiful son who was a miracle in his own right. Tammy and Michael welcomed Matthew to the world in January of 2013 after being told they were unable to conceive. This has left their nine-year-old son without a father and an unimaginable void.

Michael was a devoted husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend. He loved his family and was loved in return by many. He was a car and derby connoisseur, a pet lover, appreciated a good card game, and enjoyed his hunting. Those who knew him, loved him, and would describe him as generous and funny. He would literally give the shirt off his back to those in need. He did so until the very end by donating his organs. The shock of this tragedy has rippled through his friends and family and his absence is being felt by us all.

At this time, Tammy has applied for emergency assistance. But unfortunately, it is estimated that it will be several weeks before she will potentially get some relief. In the meantime, Tammy has several bills already due with no means to pay them and nothing left behind to hold her over. Unfortunately, Mike did not have life insurance and his health insurance will not provide much relief. It will be winter quickly and keeping the lights on and the house warm should be the last thing she should have to worry about at this time.

Whilst we are all struggling to come to terms with what has happened, we cannot fathom the tremendous loss and sadness Tammy and Matthew are experiencing at this time.

If you have read this far, we cannot thank you enough for your love and prayers. Please remember to remind those you care for how much they are loved. You never know how quickly life can change.
