Help Tanuki

A normal morning walk for Tanuki turned into a struggle for life in a matter of moments. Our dog Tanuki began coughing up huge amounts of blood on her supervised morning walk. We rushed her to our local vet with fear that she had been bitten by a snake. They ran multiple tests and everything came back normal. We were then sent to the emergency vet clinic in yokine, who were unable to figure out why she was coughing up blood. After spending the night being stabilised, we picked her up the next morning to take her to a specialist vet clinic in success. Once arriving we were told that their equipment was broken and the procedure to check her airways could not be done. We then rushed her to The Animal Hospital in Murdoch and they were able to do the procedure. They put a scope down her airways to check for a foreign object that may be causing the bleeding. By surprise Tanuki had managed to inhale a 38cm piece of grass seed plant, that was lodged in her trachea and causing distress on her lungs. There are still small pieces in her lungs that cannot be removed by their equipment but may cause damage in the future. She now has a feeding tube on the side of her neck so we are able to feed, give water and medication to her. Tanuki does not have pet insurance and the vet bills of $10000 have caused a huge amount of financial stress on our family. She is our baby and is only 18 months old. Watching her through this unexpected traumatic event has drained us both emotionally and physically . We have put our goal as $10000 (cost of overall vet bills) which is not expected but any donations will help tremendously and be greatly appreciated.
