Help Tara Achieve Housing Security
Donation protected
At this point, the Cape's housing market is entirely unaffordable and for many locals finding an attainable rental property is extremely difficult and often out of reach financially. One of my closest friends and one of the Cape's strongest advocates for social, racial, and housing justice needs a lift up from the community she fights for daily. Having been in her rental for the past ten years, her landlord has now decided to sell...that sound familiar? I believe that together we can make a difference.
The Cape cannot afford to lose Tara Vargas Wallace and her family. Tara has lived on the Cape for 25 years, raising her three daughters here alongside her husband - all of whom contribute to our community. Tara is a committed community member who sits on the board of directors for multiple local organizations, including the Housing Assistance Corporation, MA Women of Color Coalition, NAACP-Cape Cod, and Cape Cod People Against Human Trafficking. She has dedicated her life to racial and social advocacy by working and volunteering in social service agencies, including the Homeless Prevention Council, Housing Assistance Corporation, and the Department of Transitional Assistance. In her "off-time," she can often be found speaking at hearings for housing developments, showing up for causes that affect our neighbors, and continuing to heal her own lived trauma through her artwork and personal commitment to growth. Tara is incredibly genuine and authentic, and her perspective and presence here on Cape Cod are necessary to the progress of our entire community.
Please consider donating to this fundraiser to benefit Tara and her family. The funds will help them secure a rental property and all of the additional costs of moving. Tara has won multiple awards from numerous organizations for her continued commitment to advocacy over many years. Still, as many of you will understand, winning awards, speaking engagements, and newly formed non-profits don't make a dent in building savings for situations like the one she is now in. I cannot think of a more worthy person than Tara to receive our help. Thank you in advance for any amount you can donate and for sharing this with your friends and family!
Please continue to send any leads for rental housing directly to Tara.
