It's stress? It's thyroid issues? It's a spot on the liver...Unfortunately it's rare -aggressive- stage 4 -Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). The unimaginable diagnosis my 45 year old sister is now facing.
Since having to move back to Fergus Falls last year after being a caregiver to so many, Tara started to focus on her own health. After months of doctor appointments, tests, procedures and biopsies between Fergus Falls, Fargo and Rochester, Tara is now just starting chemo/immunotherapy treatments here in Fergus Falls. Because this cancer is so rare, and she is always willing to help, she has stepped up to be part of a research study at the Mayo Clinic. We are hoping this will open up more treatment options for her and others with this type of cancer.
She has missed many hours of work due to doctor appointments, procedures, therapy/the aftermath, and trying to process the enormity of this beast. Unfortunately, she is facing many more of these days, as it's spread outside the liver into the peritoneum; which this means chemo will be an ongoing thing until we are told anything different.
She is one of the strongest, most giving people I know. Her heart belongs to her family, friends, dogs, music, travel, and is always up for an off the wall adventure.
With all the obstacles she has faced in the past few years, she has always leaned on her tribe and figured it out. Giving her the peace of mind that the rent is covered or the electric bill is paid or gas money is available for traveling to the Mayo would be a huge help, so that she can focus on fighting this battle.
