Donation protected
Update! Mike & Tay have found a lead on a good place to live, & are putting in their application MONDAY July 8. That means they need funds ASAP for application fees, security deposit, first and last month's rent, all that (in addition to their ongoing needs for medical aid and a car). Thank you to all who have donated and shared already; please share widely. Thank you thank you thank you.
Our story:
Hi. This is a complex ask, but we are finding our options limited and are turning to our community. We are two, Black, queer, disabled trans men, trying to build a life together and experiencing an especially hard moment of medical issues and houselessness. We are fundraising to try and get secure housing, a car, and pay medical bills.
Tay has been living with genetic ataxia and symptoms are getting worse every year... Plus last month new symptoms flared up in his eyes, nose, and throat, which we are struggling to get diagnosed, and a lot of treatment costs are out of pocket right now. Mike has a pile of medical debt due to being hospitalized and a lot of the costs not being covered by work insurance. We're asking for help with medical costs to keep Tay going, get some answers, and get Mike back on his feet.
At the same time as this flare up, Tay unexpectedly lost his housing. We are asking for help to secure housing until Tay's section 8 comes through. Our goal is move in August or September, latest.
Having a car will help Mike drive Tay to appointments to see specialists that are not in MPLS. We're asking for help to find a car.
For all of this, we're asking for 10,000 dollars, plus some to cover the GoFundMe fees. All the money will go to medical bills, housing and transportation. Please share and donate if you can.
If you know of any good housing spots or leads on reliable cars, please feel free to reach out at [email redacted].
We are so thankful for community.
