Please help Taylor. She still has two months to go
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Trena. I'm Taylor Redfield's mom. Last Wednesday, during a heavy rain storm, Taylor slipped and fell in her apartment breezeway. She crawled back to her apartment and called me. I immediately called an ambulance. She lives on the second floor of her apartment building. The ems guy told Taylor it wasn't broken and if she goes to the er, they will only send her back home with her knee wrapped. Fast forward to today (5 days later), we were able to get her to the stairs in an office chair. Then, she sat on the stairs and lowered herself step by step until she was able to use a set of crutches to get the rest of the way to the car. Once in the er the the xray told us she had a fractured tibia & fibula. She has already missed a week of work and it's unknown how much more she has to miss. That will be determined by the Ortho Dr she will hopefully see later this week.
Thursday - Taylor had her first ortho appointment today. We found out that she has a fracture of her fibula as well as a fracture of the tibial plateau. The top (superior) of the tibia makes up part of the knee and is known as the tibial plateau, upon which the femur rests and together they form the hinge of the knee. This is a very serious break. If the bone moves, she will have to have surgery. So, for the next 3 months she is non weight-bearing and has to wear a leg brace that keeps her leg completely straight.
She has weekly appointments with the Ortho Dr to make sure there is no shift in the bones during the healing process.
Because of this injury, she cannot work and has no other source of income. We will do what we can but I know we won't be able to cover 3 months of bills. Therefore, I am asking for your help. Even a donation of the change in your pocket will help. Taylor has worked so hard, and has accomplished so much. I am trying to keep her from losing everything she has achieved. Thank you very much for taking the time to read and consider this. God be with you and yours.
