Help Tayo Beat Rare Form of Cancer
Tayo needs your help in raising money for the treatment of Medullary Thyroid Cancer, a rare form of Thyroid cancer which has happened as a result of being originally diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN2A), a rare genetic disorder that affects the endocrine glands.
Team Tayo is a small group of Tayo's family and friends who have come together to give him a fighting chance to beat this rare form of Thyroid cancer.
A small introduction about our dearest friend and brother. Tayo Bolakale Salau is a son, brother and friend who is a graduate of Bradford University, a brilliant brand strategist, technology enthusiast, keen gamer and a 'people person'. Tayo is a multifaceted young man, and this part of his story began in 2015 when he was diagnosed with medullary thyroid carcinoma, a very rare and aggressive type of cancer that can also involve other organs of the body such as the adrenal gland (a small organ above each kidney).
He has received 2 surgeries for this aggressive and deadly type of cancer in 2016 (Adrenalectomy & Thyroidectomy) at St Thomas Hospital, Westminster Bridge Road, London (UK) and Guys Hospital Southwark, London (UK).
He also had a type of treatment called radiotherapy twice where they use radiation to kill cancer cells in the body in 2018 and 2020. He also considered various alternative therapies and researched endlessly on how to beat this disease but despite these treatments, the cancer has continued to grow further in his body.
Tayo was on his way to receive Mistletoe Helixor A Therapy treatment (a groundbreaking revolutionary treatment) in Latvia where a personalised cancer killing vaccine made from Tayo’s cells was to be created to support his treatment program, however because of Covid-19 travel restrictions (for Non-EU citizens), this has fallen through. The only available treatment for him is to commence Chemotherapy as advised by his Oncologist at HCA Healthcare UK with Vandetanib or Cabozantanib.
'Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2) is a rare genetic polyglandular cancer syndrome, characterized by the 100% prevalence of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and an increased risk of developing other specific tumours affecting additional glands of the endocrine system. The endocrine system is the network of glands that secrete hormones into the bloodstream to reach distant target tissues and organs within the body.' - M.L. Brandi (M.D., PhD).
Over £100,000 of personal savings have been spent over the years to improve his condition. The reason we have set up this fundraiser is because he and his family have done so much out of their personal savings, investment, friend’s contributions the whole lot to keep Tayo fighting. However, this has now become unsustainable and impossible to manage and it is in this regard that we would like every generous heart to support Tayo with the finances towards the private treatment that he and his family have been paying for. We ask and plead that you
help us through this journey by donating whatever you can afford toward achieving our fundraising target of £600,000.
