Bring Taysir's family to safety

Dear Global Community: Taysir needs our help to bring his family to safety and keep them safe.

I met Taysir nearly 10 years ago when we worked for Mercy Corps and I was able to travel to Gaza to learn about his work helping his fellow Gazan's build dignified livelihoods. By one measure, Taysir's work on the digital economy in Gaza had more than $175m positive impact on the lives of ordinary people in an impossible situation.

We've stayed in touch through the years, all too often with a quick note from me asking "Are you ok?" to which he has always responded "Yes".

Taysir and his immediate family were able to flee to Egypt in November, but he had to leaving his sisters, brothers, and their families trapped in dire circumstances. Displaced in a foreign country and stripped of all his assets, Taysir is trying to provide for his spouse and three children, all while supporting his family in Gaza who lost their homes and are suffering from hunger, lack of water, vital medical care, adequate shelter, winter clothes, electricity and any sense of safety.

His immediate need is to relocate his 59yr old sister to Egypt. She is grappling with mental disability, by diabetes and a broken leg. She has no access to medical care and with her home gone, is living a tent.

Here is how Taysir plans to use funds we raise for him:

$7,000: Relocate his ailing sister to safety
$6,000: One year's medical expenses for his sister
$24,000: One year of basic living expenses (rent, food) for his family while in Egypt
$12,000: One year's educational expenses for his children in Egypt
$20,000: Aid for his family who remain trapped in Gaza
