Support our Teams dreams of going to the WKC World Championship representing Team USA!
This all started back in 2017. With a little girl that wanted to kick butt and a little brother that could do nothing but look up to her. Literally.
It took a couple of stops to find their home at TASK Karate Academy of Wixom Michigan back in 2021.
The journey began with Little Dragons and they have worked for everything they have earned all the way up through the ranks.
From the first taste of breaking boards to performing in the school talent show they were all in.
Then they found out that they can compete and represent their Dojo in the Michigan Sport Karate Circuit. It was on. They requested extra training nights after Little Dragon class to hone their skills.
They started bringing home medals from their very first tournament in the MSKC. Motivation comes in weird ways. Apparently bringing home bling was one of theirs. They were learning new weapons and forms to try and get better placing all while still focusing on sparring.
Kylee and Trent made it to the podium for MSKC their rookie years.
Once they started learning more and advancing past their fathers belt rank he joined Team TASK again after a 30yr break from karate. Shawn trained and competed under Sensei Kevin Johaness when he was a child in the early 90’s. What an honor to be able to join my kids and compete with them.
The kids have had the drive to rise to the challenge in everything they do. The next season they worked hard and took medals and learned about the World Karate Commission. When they got wind of another level to rise too they took it to a new level and to raise their bar they needed new weapons and new sparring gear. So they started having lemonade stands at the house to help them raise money to pay for their stuff.
They finished out the 2023 season with MSKC on the podium again! Then set their site for 2024 on MSKC and WKC this time. Harder, better, faster, stronger is a good definition of this year. Polishing and making micro changes all season to keep up with the competition since we decided to compete in a Black Belt Competition (WKC) while still being an under belt (3rd Brown).
Well here we are. They made it! Kylee and Trent qualified for 5 events at the WKC World
Championships. In Portugal. They are still doing lemonade stands to help but wanted to broaden their reach than just their neighborhood. They have a goal and are even doing can drives to help too.
Any support would help these small town kids keep climbing the ladder to their success. Who knows where it will end or if it ever will.
Thank you for reading!
