Help Ted Niceley
In case you don't know him, Ted Niceley is probably best known for his work as a producer and musician, having played bass with Tommy Keene both in classic DC band The Razz/ and founding member of the Tommy Keene Group. His production credits include: Fugazi; Tommy Keene; Jawbox; Tripping Daisy; Noir Dèsir; Girls Against Boys; Shudder To Think; and Ruth Ruth among others. He's also done work out of the spotlight as a pastry chef in Albuquerque, NM where he now resides.
I got to know Ted Niceley after the death of our mutual friend Tommy Keene. Long phone calls turned into regular chats which turned into Ted being a pretty solid fixture in my life. My friendship with Ted has helped a lot to fill a void left by Tommy and I know he's important to a lot of other people too - some who I know and many who I don't. But I don’t think many people know that Ted has been struggling with spinal problems since 2013
Conservative treatments yielded poor results and ultimately resulted in an operation called a foraminotomy on 2/19/2019 which was the result of a misdiagnosis and further disabled him from being able to work.
The good news is Ted is being scheduled for an anterior lumbar spinal fusion, ASAP. Recovery is estimated to be 6 to 9 months but during this time, he will be severely limited in his mobility - unable lift more then 5 pounds for a month and a half and he'll need assistance for 1 mile walks daily.
Ted needs to raise $40,000 to pay for costs of the operation including surgery, post operation care, assistance, physical therapy, transportation to and from physical therapy, cost of living expenses and co-pays.
Ted would appreciate any help you can give! Thanks for your support!
