Help Teddy fight for his life
Donation protected
Edit: with what was donated I was able to pay for his next veterinary appointment. Which is huge. Thank you so much to everyone who gave. I will be needing to order his meds again. He’s gained weight which means his medication is more expensive. Anything helps. Thank you all.
I volunteer at a small no kill animal shelter. Teddy was adopted back in July. In late August he was diagnosed with FIP. For those who don’t know FIP is terminal. Treatment is new, and very expensive. After 2 months of Teddy getting sicker and sicker his weight dropped down to 4 pounds (he was 7 months old by then). He was skin and bone. He couldn’t hold his head up on his own. He was so weak. Finally, at the end of October the owner returned him to the shelter. She didn’t want to be the one to put him down and she couldn’t watch him suffer anymore. He was scheduled to be euthanized so I took him home for hospice care until his appointment. No one, including the vet knew there were other options. It was pure luck I found the group FIP Warriors. They helped me get treatment for him. The first two weeks were extremely rocky. I thought he died a few times. But he pushed through. Teddy is a fighter with a stong will to live. Unfortunately the shelter is small, and cannot afford the treatment and vet bills. I have taken on this responsibility. It hasn’t been easy but he’s fighting to live. As long as he’s fighting I’m willing to do what I can. He has been doing very well with treatment. He’s up to 7 pounds since October 29th (3 pound gain) and is active and happy. He plays and eats, a lot. He’s doing so well. We have 2 months left of treatment. He will need to see the vet regularly until May 2024 to ensure he doesn’t relapse. As much as I’m uncomfortable asking for help I do need it. I’ve been paying out of pocket. I also have an aging cat of my own who has needed extensive veterinary care. The bills are adding up. I’m drowning. Any help at all I can get is very much appreciated. Thank you from Teddy and myself.
