WHAT IS TXT?
At TXT, we serve young men of color to become leaders in their communities. Since 2009, TXT has been a tool for our students, promoting collaboration, innovation, and leadership in their daily lives. Not only will they learn about coding, but market research and business development too- giving our students a window into the tech industry. 95% of students that take advantage of this opportunity and it’s resources end up going to a 4-year university, and 75% major in Computer Science.
WHAT IS SEALS?
TXT’s SEALS program expands on the topics learned during SCLA in order for students to become master full-stack developers. This year we have added Blockchain development to the curriculum. We emphasize deep learning in key concepts such as debugging, algorithms, loops, functions, and databases. By the end of the SEALs program, students are able to develop their own crypto Token and gain a following by promoting through a MERN stack website. Students also learn to collaborate on projects using github and git. Like SCLA demo day, SEALS will have the opportunity to pitch their crypto token game and website to prove what they’ve learned over the course period. It will be presented to a cohort of previous SEALS, TXTers and TXT STAFF.
WHY DONATE TO SEALS?
Donations to the SEALs program are greatly appreciated, and go directly towards the young men in our cohort- providing laptops, hotspots, and hot lunches to those who are eager to learn. Donations balance the playing field for the under-privileged students in our cohort, and every dollar offers new opportunities and resources to these young men, allowing them to develop their academic and social skills freely through our program.
Please consider donating directly to the SEALs team today. You can also donate at the URBAN TXT website, where you can personally fund CS workshops, sponsor students, and support the next generation of innovators in the tech world.
