Help Terry After Devastating Palisades Fire

My name is Michael Kagan and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my mom, Terry Salazar, who just lost her home in the Palisades Fire on January 7th 2025. She is a native Angeleno who lived in the Tahitian Terrace mobile home park for the past 13 years and we’re devastated that she lost essentially all of her possessions, our family heirlooms, and our irreplaceable family photos.

My mom, my younger brother Benji and I moved to Tahitian Terrace following my parents divorce. We took the shell of an existing trailer and built it into something that was uniquely our home. We put our hearts into creating a space that showcased my moms joyful spirit after having to reinvent herself in this new phase of her life. I am so proud of what she was able to do. She’s been a proud dual-union member of IATSE 705 & 892 as a Costumer and Stylist in the Film & TV industry for more than 35 years.

However, with the dwindling jobs available in the industry from COVID-19, the strikes and now the endless slowdown in Hollywood, it’s truly been a financially challenging time that is now more daunting than ever with this fire.

She escaped the blaze with our two beloved cats, Lola & Chavez, as she packed what she could fit into her Prius, with only a few minutes to spare as the fire raged a couple of miles away. Within hours, her entire home burned along with our entire community.

Whether you’ve visited or seen pictures of Terry’s house, you know how special it was. How she tended her colorful succulent garden, how she lovingly opened her home and hosted family & friends– ending our afternoons on her deck watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean – how she adorned every inch of it with sentimental art and eclectic designs, and how she crafted a space filled with love & light.

All donations will be used to help Terry in getting back on her feet and support her as she figures out the next chapter. Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity and support. It means the world to our family.
