Help Thanal Indian Tavern Get Back on their Feet

Donation protected
Hi everyone:

As many of you know, protests were occurring throughout the country yesterday (May 30) and also here in Philadelphia.  While most of the protests were peaceful, some spurred on senseless acts of violence, property damage and outright theft.  One such story occurred right across the street from me, at Thanal Indian Tavern.  As the name suggests, Thanal is an Indian tavern/restaurant.  It is located on the northeast corner of 20th and Arch street.  Thanal is a great small business run by a couple of millennial Indian immigrants just trying to leave their imprint on the world via serving great Indian dishes and pouring great drinks.  They are of course also trying to make a living while doing so.  Last night their small establishment was broken into and vandalized pretty horribly.  Glass doors were smashed to pieces, the cash register was stolen, laptops, iPads and even a good portion of the liquor bottles.  No insurance recovery is going to make them whole from this.  The owners, who I am happy to call friends, were already financially reeling from having to shutdown due to Covid-19 and barely staying afloat; they had to layoff most of their staff.  To say this was insult to injury is really an understatement.  Especially in light of the fact that Philly was preparing to let bars and eateries open back up in a week or so.  Now Thanal will have to stay closed longer to repair the damage.

In speaking with the owners this morning and seeing the wreckage first hand, I couldn't muster up many words of wisdom as to why this had to happen or where to go from here, but I can still help in some ways.  Thus I thought I would try to raise a little money for them to help them get back on their feet.  They are a great team of people and didn't deserve any of this.  If you can help with even a small donation,  it would be greatly appreciated.
