Hello! This campaign is for the Abed family in G.
Kareem's story video!
To the people of the world:
Hello everyone, I am Kareem Abed, born on April 19, 1999. I am a law student in Guelma State, Algeria. Today, I come to you with a heavy heart filled with sadness and despair due to the shocking events experienced by Gaza in general and my family in particular. Being far away from my family as an expatriate has exacerbated my despair. My family in Gaza is suffering greatly due to the bombardment since the start of this genocide on October 7, 2023, especially after our house was bombed several times, most recently on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 4:00 in the morning. Three members of my family were martyred: my mother Fatima Hussein Abed, born on July 2, 1965; my sister Yasmin Ouni Abed, born in 1987; and my youngest brother Abdul Muhaymin Ouni Abed, aged 22, who tragically lost his life in his youth. Not only this, but other members of my family were injured due to this violent aggression, adding to the list of many of our loved ones and relatives who have been forced to leave us since the beginning of this genocide.
I request your assistance in raising funds to save the remaining members of my family currently residing in Gaza, totaling 26 individuals.
At the forefront is my father, Ouni Mahmoud Abed, born on May 12, 1961, who suffers from lung diseases and respiratory problems. During this harsh war, my father was admitted to the hospital for over a month, battling a critical health condition. He is unable to access the necessary medications for his deteriorating health. Moreover, when our house was targeted, my father sustained severe head injuries and second-degree burns on his hands. I appeal to you for help in facilitating his treatment abroad before it's too late.
Similarly, regarding my brother Anas Ouni Abed, born in 1995, who lives with my family, he too suffered serious injuries to his head, resulting in a skull fracture, neck fracture, and a slipped disc in his seventh cervical vertebra, leading him to be confined to the hospital bed, starting from the intensive care unit where he spent two days.
As for my sister Basma Ouni Abed, born on November 2, 2004, who is in her ninth month of her first pregnancy, her condition is no less critical than the other members of my family despite her health situation requiring special care. She, too, is enduring a very difficult psychological state due to what has happened to her family.
In addition, I have newborn nieces and nephews who are suffering from malnutrition and health issues due to the war and the scarcity of resources, including proper nutrition and healthcare.
As for my other siblings, totaling 5 individuals and their children, the eldest being Iman Ouni Abed, born in 1985, followed immediately by May Ouni Abed in 1986, then Ayman Ouni Abed in 1989, followed by Bushra Ouni Abed in 1992, and finally, Nour al-Din Ouni Abed born in 1996. After our family home was destroyed and our means of livelihood were disrupted, they are now struggling to survive under continuous indiscriminate bombardment, barely managing to secure their basic needs of food and water daily due to the displacement caused by this genocide and the severe siege, deliberate starvation, and suffering they are subjected to.
As for my sister Jameela Ouni Abed, born in 1991, who left Gaza for Egypt just a few days before the war to undergo fetal implantation surgery and became stranded in Egypt, her house in Gaza was also bombed, miraculously spared by her husband.
This genocide has forced me to lose many family members, including my aunt, cousins, and dearest friends, who have been snatched away from life altogether, with some still under the rubble of demolished homes. I also lost my uncle due to lack of medical care, deprived of life along with the rest of his family after their house was bombed.
The suffering endured by my family—hunger, loss, displacement, fear—no living being could bear or comprehend, and it continues unabated until this very moment.
This fundraising campaign is my family's only hope to help them escape Gaza, fleeing from the ongoing genocide and relentless evacuation they are facing. Your contribution could be the reason my family survives this war, enabling them to escape imminent death and stay with their loved ones without experiencing loss, fear, or sorrow again—establishing a lifeline for them.
I come to you now with deep sorrow and hope, humbly asking for your support on behalf of my family and standing by us during this difficult time. Your empathy and support could be the lifeline for a weakened soul.
