Help the Abu Ammouna family evacuate Gaza

Hello, I'm Imane from Morocco, and I'm starting this campaign with my beloved friend Moayed Abu Ammouna who is currently stuck in Gaza with his family.

Hello, my name is Moayed Abu Ammouna, a visual artist, filmmaker, and independent creative director. I live in Gaza and my city is the core of my artistic and community-based practice.

The ongoing genocide has turned my family’s life upside down, as it took away everything we owned, killed our beloved ones and destroyed our dreams and ambitions. It also resulted in huge losses in completely erasing everything I have been trying to to build and bring into the reality of besieged Gaza.

Despite it all, we are still trying to survive and cling to hope amid the horrors of the devastating war and our continuous displacement under endless bombardment, this multiple displacement that began from inside our warm home in northern Gaza to completely unknown fates through a journey of trying to escape from death throughout the narrow city.

I created this support campaign after months of hesitation, but what we face -which is no less than genocide- forced me to do so. Saving my beautiful family, which is full of vitality and is driven by so many aspirations, became my priority. A family of six, consisting of my mother and father, and my brothers Mahmoud, Yazid, and Abdul Hay.

The funds raised will be crucial to cover the costs of crossing the Rafah border in addition to coordination fees, transportation, and ensuring some sort of stability in Egypt for the first months for a family of 6 members. We are required to pay $5,000 per person just to cross, which is a total of 30 000$. We would be grateful to use an extra $5,000 to cover expenses for the first months in Egypt such as accommodation and basic life supplies.

In the event that we are unable to evacuate everyone immediately and secure travel due to the fluctuations in travel policies in Gaza, we will use the remaining funds to support the basic needs of survival in Gaza under these catastrophic conditions. This includes securing primary supplies and care to support the family until we can move and travel to a safe place.
