Help the Adair Janelli Family Fire Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stephanie Evans-Wondra and I’m fundraising for Emmitt Adair, Nicola Janelli, two children, 3 large dogs, and horse, all of whom have urgent needs after this tragic event. I am one of Emmitt‘s coworkers and his assistant manager, and when I asked if they needed anything and his response was “yes, but I don’t even know what it is, yet!” A few days later, he was able to get back to me with the ask of setting up a go fund me. I am honored he asked. So often in this world people try and go it alone, they shouldn’t have to! We are built for community and now is the time we can come together to help. Unfortunately, the house they rent was in the line of the Bedrock Fire (which is still raging). This fire is still burning with 0% containment, as of 7/28/23. Thankfully, because of the defensible space that Emmitt and his family work hard to maintain, the structure was able to be spared. You will notice in pictures that the fire came up to their foundation. If you’ve ever been near and actively burning wild fire, it doesn’t smell like a campfire. Unfortunately, the smoke from an actively burning forest fire is acrid and full of chemicals. This is what has damaged all of their belongings. Everything in the house is a loss due to smoke damage. While they do have renters insurance, they are having to foot the bill up front for a hotel room, and their rent on the house, along with all of the other monthly bills one expects. Like I said earlier, they also have three massive dogs (Great Dane, and Mastiff) and a horse they are also responsible to feed. While they are gainfully employed, as a mental health professional and as a nurse, and this was all doable before the fire, this is more than one family can do on their own, after a fire. They are not being allowed back at their house, due to safety concerns. They are having to invest in new clothing. They have to eat meals out. And while for some of us that would seem like a dream, if you’ve ever had to eat out for more than a few days, it becomes tedious, expensive, and old, very quickly. They are having to pay what amounts to more than double rent in a month, when you factor in how much a hotel costs. So, as you can see, this gets expensive very quickly! They have no idea when they will be allowed back at their house, when the renters insurance will actually kick in, or when a remediation company will be able to be done with their home. I have friends who had a candle start a fire in their kitchen, and they weren’t able to get back into their house for months, I don’t expect that this will be much different. They will be displaced for a while. Anything you can give helps, one dollar, five dollars, twenty dollars, or more if you have the ability. Let’s help out members of our community, who have been so helpful to so many in our community.
