Help the Alliance Francaise de San Diego find a new facility.

The Alliance Francaise de San Diego’s (AFSD) mission is to promote the French Language and francophone cultures. Alliance Française is the world's largest and oldest network of French language and cultural centers. It was founded in 1883 in Paris, France. We have more than 830 chapters worldwide and foster exchanges between French speakers and local communities.

Our community is thriving and growing day after day. Our teachers and instructors are highly qualified. They develop programs that help you reach your goals and progress in the French language for learning and working in San Diego and abroad.

Today we need your help.

We need to move from our current facility by the end of September, and we are looking for new buildings in which to teach our lessons and gather les amoureux de la langue française. As a matter of fact, our new landlord wants all businesses in the complex to vacate. To ensure all tenants leave quickly, he has increased our rent by more than 180% retroactive to January. We cannot stay.

It is time to find another location to meet the expressed needs of our francophone and francophile communities. We are in the process of relocating our office, classes, and learning materials to meet this goal. This requires extra investment, but it is to position the Alliance Française in a more accessible and impactful place for our students and partners.

Luckily we have been able to develop partnerships with local schools looking to develop new outreach programs in French. We will be forever grateful to The San Diego French American School, the Lycee Francais de San Diego, and the Language Academy for opening their doors during this transition period. Thanks to their hospitality, some of our classes will be held on their campuses. But that’s not all! Each month we will be showing a recent francophone movie to our community as well as hosting Art Talk events each trimester to enable San Diegans to learn and progress in French, and …make new friends. We have also created new business classes, strengthened conversational French, and added fun and educational cooking and art classes.

Regardless of the amount, your donation will help us find another permanent facility more quickly.
