Help the Albert Family Rebuild After Fire

On January 8th, our family experienced an unimaginable loss: our beloved home of 30 years was destroyed in the devastating fires that have affected so many.

The floors we took our first steps, the gardens we built fairy houses in, the land my mother cultivated, turning it into a California native landscape to be revered. Amazingly, the plants and vegetation persevered through this fire, a testament to her devotion she has to this work, to this California landscape.

My father, a retired film-maker turned painter, filled the house with the most beautiful paintings. Years of his brush work reflected on the walls of that house, each piece a reflection of the life they’ve built together, the growth and expanse of his work, and of his love and devotion to our family and to the place we called home.

Our parents poured their love and care into making it a place of warmth and welcome for all who entered, and in the last 5 years, have worked tirelessly to turn this home into a rental property that not only helped support our family but also became a place of comfort and solace for others.

Thankfully, our parents are safe and staying with kind friends, but the road ahead is difficult. There are significant financial burdens to face. The home was a significant source of income for our family, but also that of the dedicated individuals who have helped care for the property over the years, whose livelihoods are especially impacted by the loss.

We are organizing this because of the outpouring of love and support, and inquiry on how others can help.

Our family has been through many fires in Malibu, but this loss is unlike anything we’ve faced before. Your generosity, love, and support mean the absolute world to us. This GoFundMe will help to get essentials such as clothes, toiletries, computers, and the necessities of life that were destroyed in the fire. This will also allow them to continue supporting our gardeners and housekeepers who are also experiencing unimaginable disruption to their lives.
