Help the Aldershot White Lion roar again!

The short story…
Our beloved White Lion is in danger of becoming yet another featureless development amongst so many others in our town, where shops, poorly thought-out dwellings and the bulldozer seem to be the easy option over fighting to keep our community together. The pandemic forced our pub to remain closed, but despite this we are fighting to bring OUR pub into the community's hands. Will you help us to raise funds for our campaign?

The longer story…
The people who loved and used The White Lion pub in Aldershot before it closed in March 2020 are campaigning to re-open it under community ownership. This can be done by people in the community purchasing shares, plus a grant from the Government Community Ownership Fund, to buy the building from the current owner. However, a fighting fund is needed to sustain the campaign as we have had to rely on individual contributions from committee members to get this far.
We are asking for your support to keep this previously thriving pub from being either pulled down, turned into a shop, flats, turf accountants or anything other than a local boozer. It is a community pub, and we want to see it continue as a pub. Can you please help us? This would mean a great deal for local people who have seen one pub after another in our town close down. The pub was a viable business before it closed and will thrive again if we are given the chance!
In advance…our heartfelt thanks.
Our funding target is calculated to meet current commitments, which include: Website development (£500), Plunkett Foundation Membership (£240), Domain name retention (£30), ongoing website maintenance (£100) and fundraising fees.
