Help the Al-Saloul family get to safety in Egypt
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ruth, and I am organizing this campaign from Canada on behalf of my friend in Gaza, Abdullah (Abod) Al-Saloul.
Abdullah and his family are strong and determined people, who at first decided to try to remain in their home in North Gaza. However, after 7 months of living with constant conflict, destruction, danger, and hardship they have made the difficult decision to leave their beloved home and evacuate to safety in Egypt, and so we are asking for your help to raise the funds that they will need to be able to do this.
Although I have only known Abod for a short time, he embodies the kindness, generosity of spirit, and resilience that the Palestinian people and culture are known for. Despite the loss of many family members and friends, he has not given in to despair; and despite the fact that they often have very little (or nothing) to eat, Abod has adopted a local cat that he loves dearly and he tries to always make sure she is fed.
________
"My name is Abdullah Al-Saloul from Palestine - Gaza Strip. Gaza is under attack and it has become a conflict zone. I have lost everything: my work, my money, my home; so I am asking for global solidarity with me and my family members.
My family consists of 7 members: my father Maher Al-Saloul, my mother Nisreen Al-Saloul, my twin sisters Shaima and Alaa Al-Saloul, my younger sister Dima Al-Saloul, and my twin brother Muhammad Al-Saloul, plus myself.
My father is 53 years old and works in electrical maintenance and lost his job due to the war. My mother is 46 years old and a housewife who is dedicated to her children and family. My sister Shaima (age 25) is studying medical analysis, Alaa (also 25) is studying psychology, Dima (age 20) is studying pharmacy, Muhammed (age 28) is studying medicine, and I am studying chemistry. We all dream of being able to help others.
We live in difficult living conditions in Gaza. I know everyone is aware of the extent of the destruction that has occurred in the area, and at any moment, our lives can simply vanish . As humans, we have the right to live in peace, away from genocide.
Please help us leave Gaza and enter Egypt. The evacuation costs are USD$5000 - $8000 per person to pass through the Egyptian borders. Your contributions will be allocated to ensure safe passage and evacuation for me and each member of my family from Gaza, and to cover the basic costs and travel expenses. We do not know what the total cost to cross the border will be as the price changes frequently. If there is money left over once we have secured passage to Egypt, it will be used to cover our living expenses (food, rent, and other necessities) while we establish a new life there.
Your generous contributions will help save our lives. Even if you can't donate, I'll be thankful to you if you share this fundraising campaign with your network of friends and family on social media platforms. "

Abod and his family are currently making their way from North Gaza to Rafah, which is perilous in itself, and then they will remain in Rafah until they have enough funds to be able to cross into Egypt. Fortunately, Abod's brother Muhammed lives outside of Gaza, so although there are 7 members listed on the family's documents, the total amount we are trying to raise is for 6 people to cross into Egypt (please note that the funds needed are in USD, and we are estimating roughly $8,000USD per person for crossing and living expenses - our total factors in the exchange rate to CAD).
Funds raised will be transferred via Western Union to Abod's brother Mohammed, and he will then personally travel to Egypt to organize and facilitate the family's exit from Gaza.
This is where your solidarity and generosity comes in. When you choose to help the Al-Saloul family's campaign, know that you are making a tangible difference to the lives of real people who are living through something truly terrible.
When you donate to the Al-Saloul family, you aren't just providing them with the physical means to get to Egypt and begin rebuilding their lives, you are also giving them the gift of safety, dignity, and hope. You are providing the opportunity for them to find a way to live in peace and begin to heal from the ordeal of living under occupation not just during the last 7 months, but also for their entire lives.
Finally, your donation also provides an important reminder in this dark and difficult time that the people of the world have not forgotten the people of Palestine, and that we believe that they deserve the same peace and freedom as everybody else. Whether you donate or just share to spread the message to others we are endlessly grateful to you. Thank you.
