Help The Alvarez Family Rebuild After A Fire

While my Dad was out of the house, and my Mom was at work, I was sleeping as was my brother, Diogenes Jr., when it happened, and I will never forget waking to suffocating black smoke, and being totally disoriented because I couldn't see anything. I couldn't even see the window that was right next to my bed. I made it to the hallway to yell and wake up my brother, but the choking smoke made it very difficult. He did hear me and he got out of the house, but I had to make my way back to find the window in my room to get out. It was a terrible day, caused by a faulty charging cord, but we are grateful that we both got out, that our two dogs were rescued, and that our cat was able to be revived by the firefighters.

We are left, though, with a lot of repairs including replacing all of the drywall and ceilings of the first floor. The entire first floor also needs new electrical sockets and fixtures, and new flooring in the areas where the fire was the worst. Most everything in the kitchen has to be replaced.

We are asking for help in doing all of this, especially since my Dad is currently being evaluated for a kidney transplant, and there was no home insurance to help cover any of these costs. Our family right now is unable to stay together (I am staying with friends as is my younger sister) and with the holidays approaching, that breaks my heart, but we look forward to a time when we can be together in our repaired home.
