Help The Alzoubi Family From Syria

Donation protected
Meet our "adopted" Syrian family, the Alzobi's; father Mohammad and mother Nadia who have three boys ages 17, 15, 14 (not pictured) and two girls ages 12 and 5.  A beautiful family of 7 from Syria who left Jordan 3 months ago and are now one of the 1,000 Syrian Refugees that San Diego has accepted through Heart4Refugees.

My name is Kristin from San Marcos, CA. My husband and I have been given the privilege to help this family and assist them in this difficult transition. Watching the horrific and heartbreaking news and feeling so helpless I prayed that somehow our family could help, when we heard about Heart4Refugees through Kindra Arzon we knew this was our calling.

Through our amazing translator Yazmeen, we were given a list of what they needed prior to our first meeting.  A trashcan, laundry basket, blender, mattress, iron, nothing fancy, just the necessities. We asked friends and family for donations and they came pouring in! The 5 year old received toys she had never seen before, the mother a meat grinder and blender to make her amazing Syrian food, the father and boys; clothes and shoes, 2 brand new mattress, gift cards for groceries and more. Everyone was so incredibly generous yet, they need so much more.

We met on Friday, January 6th, the family was so gracious, welcoming,  and appreciative of the assistance they have received. We spent the afternoon together, they served us tea twice and talked about the meal they would be making on our next visit!  They even took the extra step to see if we were vegetarian or had food alergies!  The mother and father humble, the 12 year old daughter funny and beautiful, the 5 year old shy and the boys so grateful!  Their wants are small but I soon found out they must pay back each plain ticket which is over a  thousand doallars per ticket. They have no transportation, so simply picking up a jug of water and walking a few miles home is not easy. Jobs are difficult when you are trying to learn the English language. (They are all taking classes to learn English)

We will be working with the family to help find jobs, help with debt, help with necessities, show them that they are safe, welcomed, and loved!

Items needed Now:
-Twin bed frame with storage
-Cleaning supplies
-TV with box to watch syrian channels

100% of the money from this campaign will go directly towards purchasing goods and paying for services for this family. Upon receiving donations we will withdraw the funds and use them to purchase needed items. We will then deliver these items to them. I will not be giving funds directly to the family as Hearts4Refugees strongly recommend that funds be used on the families behalf via the volunteer instead, while they make their transition to San Diego.

When we asked the boys what they liked most about being here they said school. When they fled Syria and arrived in Jordan they were not accepted and they were forced to make the choice of staying home or being bullied and beaten.  My hope for them is acceptance and safety, most importantly, we ask you to help us make a difference in the lives of this beautiful family of 7 living in a two-bed, one-bath apartment.

One dollar, five dollars, anything helps, together we can make a difference!

Thank you so much!
Love-
Ray, Kristin, Jordan, Nathan and Grayson
