On August 15th, 2024 around 4:00 pm, Jamie and her 3 girls were driving west on highway 70 to spend an evening at Mimi's and Papa's riding horses. A couple miles before arriving at their home, Jamie's car was hit head on by a fully loaded semi-truck. The truck driver crossed over into Jamie's lane, on a 2 lane highway, giving her no where to go. Cody was a couple miles behind them and was one of the first to arrive at the scene of the accident.
Jamie and Eleanor were taken in separate care flights to Renown hospital. Millie and Hallie were taken by ambulance with Cody to Renown. Jamie had major internal injuries which resulted in several abdominal surgeries over the next week in ICU. Eleanor spent 2 nights in the hospital with a broken tibia and collar bone. Millie and Hallie were treated for bruises and whiplash.
It's truly a miracle that Jamie and all 3 girls survived such a horrific accident. A long road to recovery, especially for Jamie, lies ahead. They are staying in Reno, NV with family as Jamie has to be at Renown several days a week for wound care. Not only are they displaced from their home in Portola, CA but they are also dealing with the trauma from the accident.
The Anderson's are blessed with many people in their lives who have been asking how to help. I’m Jamie’s sister ,Laura Jones, and I am setting this up as a way for family and friends to help the Anderson's with current and future medical costs, care for the 3 children so Jamie can continue to focus her energy on healing and recovering and trauma therapy for the entire family.
The Anderson's are thanking God every day that he was with them during this horrific accident, protecting them from what could have been a catastrophe.
