Help the Angove Family Heal and Recover After Papa Phil’s Passing

Aloha, my name is Jessica Taguiped, and I have been incredibly blessed to be part of the Angove Ohana for the past eight years. Nicole Angove, one of my dearest friends, and her family—Papa Phil, Bryan, Alex, Michael, Zoey, Izzy, and little Phil—have become my family. Together, we’ve shared countless memories and worshiped as part of the Citizen Church community. The Angoves are a devoted, faith-filled family who regularly serve and give back to Maui.

A few years ago, Papa Phil moved from Washington State to live full-time with Bryan and Nicole on Maui. His endless jokes, warm smile, and vibrant spirit brought so much joy and laughter to their home. A Vietnam War veteran and a Seabee in the reserves for over 25 years, Papa Phil lived a life filled with service, faith, and love for others. Most importantly, he deeply loved Jesus and shared that love with everyone he met.

When Papa Phil joined the Angoves, his health and happiness flourished under Nicole's loving care. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and looked forward to greeting everyone warmly at church every Sunday. Sadly, Papa Phil’s health began declining over the past year. His dementia worsened, and he faced repeated hospitalizations for a variety of severe medical conditions. The family faced mounting challenges, as the Department of Veterans Affairs did not cover much of the specialized care Papa Phil needed. His declining health also made it difficult for him to consistently attend church and be part of the fellowship he so loved.

Two Sundays ago, through God’s grace, Papa Phil made his final visit to church, where he said goodbye in his own way. He lovingly told little Phil and Izzy that he wanted to spend precious moments with them before “going to see Jesus.” By Friday, his health had deteriorated rapidly, and he was back in the hospital. His organs were shutting down, and he could no longer eat. On Sunday, November 10th, at 12:42 pm, surrounded by Bryan and Nicole, Papa Phil peacefully took his last breath. Bryan lovingly held his father’s hand and encouraged him as he passed into eternity, saying, “Yeah, Dad! You did it. You made it to be with Jesus!” ❤️

Papa Phil was a cornerstone of the Angove family, providing not just love and support but also financial contributions to their household. His passing leaves an emotional and financial void that the family now must navigate. In addition to grieving this incredible loss, the Angoves face significant financial challenges, including covering Papa Phil’s remaining medical bills and honoring his memory with a celebration of life.

This faithful, God-loving family has given so much to the Maui community. Now they need your help. Your support can ease their financial burden as they adjust to life without Papa Phil and ensure they can honor him in the way he deserves.

Please consider contributing to support the Angove family during this difficult time. Large or small, any amount will make a difference and is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. God bless you, and mahalo.
