Help the Animal Victims of Hurricane Helene and Milton

Hello, I am Camille Skotnicki-Garbe, the Founder of BoMeric Horse Rescue in WI. We have just been totally heartbroken over the devastation this year across the country, with the latest disaster being Hurricane Helene. That has resulted in so many animals being injured, lost, and killed. We have noticed that we are not seeing the GoFundMe's like we used to and are taking action. We are a horse rescue by nature, but not today.

We are fundraising to help all animals impacted by this latest disaster, previous ones, and future ones.

The suffering of the animals has been gut-wrenching. Animals stuck in water, trying to stay afloat. Animals drowning in buildings they were trapped in as water rose. Animals that are trapped in debris and mud, just hoping someone will find them in time to save them.

So many stories. The older couple who took the time to try and save their horses as the hurricane rolled in, found dead in their truck. Yet by some miracle, their horse trailer was found a couple of days later, stuck up on a mud flow, all the horses still alive, huddled together within.

The story of horses, Evita and Montessori, their owner unable to evacuate them in time. Their owner immediately posting desperately for any sightings of them, only to have both of their bodies found a few days later. And so many more stories like that.

The gentleman who fought through the storm to get home and try to rescue his beloved pets, only to find they had drowned before he could get there.

Whole farms wiped out, pets trapped in homes, just endless tragedy that is still ongoing. Many animals have been saved, but so many more are still out there needing help. Pets that now find themselves homeless, their people gone. Resources stretched so thin. We could go on and on, but the pictures speak so much louder than words.

Please, please help us raise funds to help. I can hear people asking, "You are in WI, what can you do?" Here is how the funds will be used. We will disperse funds to rescue groups and people in the affected area that need help, regardless of the type of animals they help. We will send food and supplies down where needed. If we manage to surpass our goal, BoMeric Rescue pledges to put together a rescue team and send them to the area. We will also be open to bringing animals up here for fostering. All funds will be used to meet the needs of animals in a rescue situation.

We want to help them all: Horses, Donkeys, Mules, Cats, Dogs, Cows, Goats, Chickens, and anything else you can think of. This needs to be a group effort. Coming together is the only way forward.

As we are not raising funds for any particular person or entity, it is difficult to meet Go Fund Me's requirement to state our relationship with our beneficiaries. We are an established charity which is required to adhere to a very strict code of conduct when using funds.
