Help the Anthony Family Overcome ALS Challenges

Several months ago, 41 year-old Alyssa Anthony began treatment for an unknown neurological disorder as no definitive results could be found through various testing. This past week following more testing, she was referred to the ALS Foundation and placed on ALS medications for her symptoms as her health has continued to steadily decline.

ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a rare but terminal neurodegenerative disorder that results in the progressive loss of both upper and lower motor neurons that normally control voluntary muscle contraction. This motor neuron loss typically continues until the abilities to eat, speak, move and eventually breathe are lost.

Alyssa and her husband Lucas, son Nehemiah and daughter Loralye are now tasked with acquiring a 4x4 wheelchair-accessible vehicle, as well as making their home wheelchair-accessible. The purpose of this GoFundMe page is to raise the necessary funds to assist the Anthony family in offsetting the financial burden of making their home wheelchair-accessible, to help with medical bills and to purchase a 4x4 wheelchair-accessible vehicle. A 4x4 wheelchair-accessible vehicle alone can run anywhere from $70,000 to $90,000.
