Help the Awad Family Survive in Gaza
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Saskia, and I’m from Switzerland. I’m organizing this campaign to support the family members of my dear friend, Mohammed Awad, who are enduring devastating hardships in Gaza.
Mohammed managed to leave Gaza a few months ago but unfortunately, his father, two brothers, and two sisters are still trapped in Gaza. They are struggling daily to survive in conditions most of us can’t even begin to imagine. For over a year, their lives have been marked by danger, scarcity and displacement. A constant fear for their lives, hunger, the lack of space, privacy and even the most basic necessities has become their reality.
They face these horrible conditions, exhausted from their daily fight for survival, sometimes not being able to sleep for days because their worries, their empty stomachs, the cold and the constant sound of the warplanes keep them awake. It is an experience that the words in this post will never be able to fully capture.

The Challenges They Face
The ongoing destruction and the blockage of aids entering Gaza has made it extremely difficult to access even the most essential items:
• Food: Prices for basics like flour, eggs and vegetables rise weekly and are often unaffordable. Fresh produce is a rarity and the family often goes hungry because they can’t find or afford enough (or sometimes even anything) to eat. The adults of the family distribute the little food they have among their kids, which often results in them going to bed with an empty stomach at the end of the day. Cooking is an additional challenge, especially during bad weather when open fires or makeshift stoves are difficult or impossible to use.
• Shelter: With winter setting in, the family is battling the cold and heavy rain. Their makeshift tents, pieced together from any large piece of fabric they can find, such as empty flour bags, are not enough to keep them warm and dry in these harsh weather conditions. Their shelters are not waterproof and get flooded easily. The heavy rain often soaks their bedding and clothing, making it nearly impossible at times to stay warm or to sleep. If people get lucky, they can find plastic sheets to cover their tents, but they are hard to find and expensive to purchase.
• Medical Treatments and Baby Formula: Mohammeds brother recently became a father again. The newborns’ health is fragile, and the little boy must stay in an infant incubator at the hospital. The mother cannot breastfeed the baby due to malnutrition and baby formula is extremely difficult to obtain and incredibly expensive.
How Your Donation Helps
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward:
• Providing food and clean water for the family
• Purchasing warm clothing and materials to improve their shelter
• Covering essential supplies like baby formula and medical treatments for Mohammeds newborn nephew
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in their lives. Your support can help ease their daily hardships and give them hope during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank You!
We are deeply grateful for any help you can provide, whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign with others. Together, we can offer Mohammed’s family the essential support they need to survive.
