Help the Azizans recover after recent floods
Donation protected
This GoFundMe profile is created on behalf of my foster kid from Malaysia, previously an exchange student who participated in the U.S. Department of State's Kennedy-Lugar Youth and Exchange Student (YES) Program back in the year 2009 and lived with us in Rapid City, SD. Below is his story:
Unusually heavy rains and flooding in Peninsular Malaysia on 18th Dec 2021 affected thousands of Malaysians, who have experienced an almost total loss of homes and vehicles. This natural disaster has rendered my family homeless and immobile overnight. The news stories link for that event are as follows:
The villagers of Kampung Tengah, Puchong, Selangor where we live, were not spared. Many families are facing extensive damage to their homes and complete loss of sentimental and personal belongings as well their cars, forcing them to relocate elsewhere long term. They now have to carry a heavy financial burden stemming from repairs to their personal property caused by massive water damage.
I am setting up this public donation to give those who wish to assist my family an opportunity to give financial support to our parents Azizan Bin Md. Rais and Norsham Binti Hassan. They are part of the community of the flooded Kampung Tengah, Puchong. They both are former Malaysian civil servants and are living on government pensions with only enough for their day-to-day expenses. Our multigenerational family home and several cars were damaged from the flood and it is estimated that USD 20,000 is needed to begin repair of the house and cars. The family is overwhelmed by this loss and the amount of money required to make our home livable again.
All financial proceeds will be given directly to my parents and if it comes to a point where the funds are enough for them, I, as their son, plan to channel the extra funds to the neighbours in the village.
Thank you !
