Help the Baheej family purchase a car!

Hello friends and neighbors,

 

I have been lucky to begin working with a family now receiving refuge in the United States after conditions in their native Afghanistan became too dangerous last summer.

 

This new Afghan evacuee family in Broomfield, CO survived the Kabul blast. We are hoping to aid this family with community support that comes from the heart in the form of funds for a reliable family vehicle, which is essential for building self-reliance and meeting the family's needs.

 

The Baheej family was hit hard by the terrorist attack as they were trying to evacuate Kabul in August of 2021, and their family members were separated afterward due to medical emergencies. Their 10-year-old daughter was impacted severely by the explosion arriving in a coma only to wake up in America without her parents due to her emergency surgeries. The mother was two weeks pregnant during the blast, yet both mom and baby survived miraculously, and their newborn will soon arrive!

 

Meetra Baheej, the mom and wife, previously worked as a lawyer focusing on women’s rights and helping refugees in Afghanistan during peaceful times. The father, Mirwais Baheej, has a Master's degree in finance and a medical degree; he held prestigious positions within the Afghanistan government. The family lost their home, savings, and everything they knew.

 

Currently, Mirwais is actively searching for a job in Colorado where he can put his education and skills to use and recently got his driver's license. However, without a car, transportation to medical appointments and job interviews is difficult. This funding would directly support the Baheej family in purchasing a dependable used car to help transport their family to receive medical assistance and meet their other needs. It’s impossible to finance a car without credit, so any help you can give would see that this family is supported by their community in ways that truly come from the heart.
