Help the Baker Family Rebuild
Donation protected
If you have ever been a part of the community of Cave Creek, Arizona (in the north Valley) you know the Baker Family. They have been such a driving force of community service and comfort to all of us. The family was known for their veterinarian clinic, Carefree Animal Hospital, that spanned decades in our town. Sadly, their family home, where Dr. Baker started his family and they still reside, has burned down to the ground… leaving nothing to salvage. They were barely able to get out with the clothes on their backs and have been left devastated. It is our job now to give back to this family that has sacrificed so much for this community.
(what is left after the fire)
Dr. Brent “Doc” Baker built two veterinarian practices in Cave Creek and Sunnyslope after he came back from the Vietnam War. He started his family in Cave Creek shortly after. His children: Mij, Erica, Michelle and Brent “Bucky” Baker were all well known as well in this community as you either grew up with them or watched them grow up. All the children worked in their Father’s practice, we all learned we could depend on them and they were always there, never asking anything of those they served.
The Baker Family worked tirelessly, saving countless animals in this community with their practice, making house calls in the middle of the night, working through holidays, answering the needs of the community past the services of a veterinarian. They would see a need in the community and they would always answer the call, regardless of what it was. Cave Creek was built on people like the Bakers and we owe our town’s success and uniqueness to people like them.
Sadly, “Doc” Baker passed away this past November and as the patriarch of his family, it was hard for his children and grandchildren. Mij and her sister Erica decided to remain in the family home. Many in this community awoke on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 to sirens of fire trucks in the middle of the night, to see a huge plume of black smoke and flames rising high into the night. We all watched in horror as this cherished family home, that brought many of us so many wonderful memories, was gone. There is nothing left, and this poor family has nothing to cling to, as the fire took everything. Although we cannot erase the heartache this family is going through, we can try and make it easier by giving them the ability to start over and not have to worry about how they will begin to rebuild their lives. This is our opportunity to help a family that has served this community for so many years. Please donate if you can and please spread the word. I know the family cannot thank everyone enough as the outpouring of support has filled their hearts. Thank you for your generosity.
