Hello, our names are Giovanni, Sandy, and Mayra. We've created this gofundme for our older sister Wendy, and her family.

Right after undergoing breast cancer surgery, our oldest sister Wendy, and her family faced an unimaginable tragedy. On the same day her family came together to celebrate her husband’s birthday, a LAUSD teacher, their lives were forever changed.

On 01/08/25, a 4 a.m. text alert warned them to immediately evacuate their home in Altadena, California. With visible flames and wind driven embers, my sister, her husband, and their children quickly grabbed what they could and took off.

Through God’s grace, they survived the chaotic evacuation—neighbors crying, cars rushing to escape, and as they drove out someone hit their car. God led them out and they found temporary safety at an Albertsons parking lot miles away. It was there, less than 90 minutes later, that they learned that their entire neighborhood had been completely destroyed by the fire.

God kept them physically safe, but this family has lost everything else—irreplaceable belongings and their sense of security. All of this comes as our sister is recovering from major surgery and awaiting a critical follow-up appointment to determine if all the cancer was successfully removed. Right now they are still trying to process the event that happened and stay together as they find a place to live.
