Help the Ball Family with Medical Expenses

Help the Ball Family with Medical Expenses, organized by Stephanie and Marianne.

Sean (15, turning 16 on Nov. 7th) and Joshua (14) were victims of a hit-and-run on October 31st around 10 pm. The boys were struck while walking to meet their mom after trick or treating. We are raising funds to help the Ball family with the medical bills, as both boys suffered significant trauma and injuries.

Since they were young, their laughter has been contagious and fills the room with joy. Sean and Joshua have been active in football and basketball. They are the eldest sons of Joey Alanis Ball and Rob Ball, big brothers to Westin (9). The boys should be focused on everyday teenage life, making friends, playing sports, and working towards their driver's licenses. The fateful events on Halloween put normal day-to-day life to a halt.

The following is a personal account of the events on Halloween as told by Joey Ball (Sean and Joshua's mom):
"Around 10pm on Halloween, Sean and Joshua were walking from a neighborhood that they had been trick or treating in, to a nearby park where I was waiting to pick them up. As they were nearing the entrance of the park they were both struck by a vehicle. Sean was hit first and landed in the ditch. Then Joshua was hit and landed in the street. I was nearly 50 feet away when this happened. I didn’t see it, but I heard it. I quickly drove forward to the entrance of the park to see that my boys both had been struck by a hit and run. These images will haunt me forever. There was an Angel of a human that helped console me and manage the boys until the paramedics and police arrived. We were all taken to Grady hospital. Both boys were placed in the same trauma room in the ER. That was bittersweet. I was thankful to have them both close, but it was also unbearable to watch not 1, but 2 of my boys being treated simultaneously. I am so thankful that Rob and Lisa were there to help divide the attention to help comfort the boys. Joshua had significant road rash, bumps and bruises and overall aches and pains. Miraculously there were no broken bones. He was discharged yesterday morning and seems to be on the mend with the exception of some wounds that will take time to heal. Sean took more of the brunt of the injuries. He has a concussion that is expected from the impact. He had a severe laceration to the nose that required surgery along with a large laceration to his left elbow that tore into his tricep which required surgery as well. He is still in recovery and dealing with quite a bit of pain. He will remain in the hospital until it is more manageable. Thank you to all who have been praying for our family. We have been shown so much love and support it truly amazes me."
