Our co-worker, Yesenia Barajas, was at work when she received a devastating call that her family was involved in a terrible accident in Mexico and that her mother was trapped inside the vehicle. Yesenia had many other family members that were involved in the accident. All of which still remain at the hospital in Mexico. Yesenia, a single mother, was forced to leave the United States to be at her family's side in Mexico, hoping not to lose her only living parent .
Her brother had to have surgery on his arm. Her sister in law had to have surgery on her ear and spinal cord after being ejected out of the vehicle during the crash along with her toddler daughter. She landed on the pavement on her back, fracturing her spinal cord. Her mother has brain swelling along with many other injuries while still remaining in critical condition. While this family remains in Mexico's hospital, the bills that will have to be paid at the family's expense are steadily increasing.
The Barajas family is left with hopes and prayers that their family gets stable enough to transport them back to the United States to a hospital that is covered under their insurance. We have watched Yesenia work tirelessly and long hours to provide for her daughter. We are heartbroken and deeply effected by the tragedy that has occurred in her family. As much as we want to help, we realize that our effort and money would not put a dent in the expenses for the medical bills and transportation to get her family back to the United States.
