Help the Barrow Family

Denise Barrow was a mother, wife, grandmother, friend and much more to the people in her life. She has served the Fort McMurray community for close to 30 years as being one of the leaders of the Fort McMurray Tourism Board and Chamber of Commerce. On behalf of friends, family, and co-workers who knew her and worked closely with her, we are reaching out to the greater community to offer support to the Barrow family in these challenging times. She was survived by daughter Kristina, son Ricky and husband Eric who is currently battling Stage 4 tongue cancer. Kristina has to take a compassionate care leave off work to take palliative care of both Denise who suffered from pulmonary fibrosis and her father Eric.

The Barrow family has been hit by numerous tragedies the past years with both Denise and Eric fighting terminal illnesses, death of close family and friends and two house fires which drained the whole family financially, emotionally, psychologically and physically. The family had struggled with medical and household expenses for years which led to mounting debts and is now facing foreclosure on Denise's beloved home.

We are raising funds for Denise's funeral expenses and to give her a celebration of life event which she rightly deserves as a pillar of our community. We are also raising funds to cover Eric's medical expenses in his long battle with cancer and to help Kristina get back on her feet so she can continue taking care of her father and the rest of the family. Let's help out whatever we can so this family can recover from multiple tragedies and have a semblance of optimism for the future.

This kind and loving family deserves all our support and we are knocking on your kind hearts to donate what you can and give hope to the Barrows. Even a little goes a long way and I believe that the wonderful community of Fort McMurray will pull through with compassion and kindness like always.
