"Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories..." - Ronald Reagan. Our hearts ache with the overwhelming sorrow at the loss of two of the most incredible, kind, funny, creative, generous, and loving members of the Bates family. On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Aaron James Bates and his son, Aaron James Bates II (A.J.), unexpectedly died as the result of a tragic car accident in North Florida. Aaron and his wife, Katie, were high school sweethearts. A.J. was their oldest child, a high school senior at Lakeland High School, active in band and cheerleading. Aaron and Katie have four younger children: Caleb, Nora-Claire, Caroline, and Parker. The extended family members include uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, and many life-long friends who consider the Bates "family" as well. It is important for us (both adults and kiddos) to talk about Aaron and A.J. To remember them. To mourn them. To keep loving them.
Many have asked how to help. Your prayers, thoughts, words of support, and yes, financial support are greatly appreciated during this difficult time. While food and gift cards are appreciated, monetary gifts are most beneficial. There will be numerous costs in the coming weeks and months including but not limited to funeral, transportation, food, housing, and other living expenses that will now fall on Katie as a recently widowed mother and teacher. On behalf of Katie and the extended family and friends, thank you. This GoFundMe account will complement/replace the PayPal account going forward. Donations will be given directly to the Bates family.
With much gratitude,
Sara Randall & Kim Thomas
