Help the Baumann Family

Written by Karlie Baumann Yamry, sister of Brian Baumann -

I'll never forget the night I got the call from my brother, Brian, that Jessie was sick. It was August 2011; Jessie had Breast Cancer and it looked like it was an extremely aggressive form of breast cancer. We cried together and I remember saying that the kids were so little--they were only 1 1/2 and 4 1/2. At the time of diagnosis in August 2011, it was originally labeled as stage 3c. The biopsy came back as Inflammatory Carcinoma, a particularly deadly cancer that strikes hard and fast, easily gaining access into lymph nodes and spreading around the body to metastasize and grow rapidly. By December of 2012 we realized the cancer had originally infiltrated so many lymph nodes before diagnosis, it was labeled as Metastatic breast cancer. Just two short months after Jessie's diagnosis, her father, John, passed away from cancer on Jessie's birthday. Understandably, it was a nightmare for her and continues to this day for the Baumann family.

> I won't go into every hospital stay--there were many. Jessie has been such an amazingly strong woman. She's fought so hard through all of this. Even on her worst days, she would still be optimistic and has always said "somewhere, someone has it worse." This battle has been a rollercoaster of up's and down's; the cancer would recede with treatment and then later it would present in a new area. I can't imagine how hard it was for them to receive that news every time, but Brian and Jessie stood strong through every up and down.

> It goes without saying that when one has cancer, the treatments are both extensive and expensive. In July 2016 we received devastating news: the CT scan came back "catastrophic" with numerous brain lesions. Jessie's Dr immediately recommended that Jessie cease working. In January 2017 after a subsequent CT scan showed significant progression of the disease, Jessie stopped driving. She has said that not being in the salon and working was one of the hardest things she ever did: she absolutely loved seeing her clients and she loved her job.

> Her optimistic attitude has kept her here this long, but now her body is wearing out. Brian and Jessie have two children that are now 7 and 10 years old. We are faced with the realization that their Mom won't be here for their birthdays or Christmas. It is a hard realization for us to fathom; it is devastating for their children. The Baumann family needs you to be there for them; they need you to be an Angel and support them. By donating towards their medical bills that have accumulated over the longevity of this battle, you can help relieve the anxiety for Brian and the kids. Please help us to take this off their shoulders as they say goodbye to their wife and mother.
